Debbie discovered her true sense of inner ritam (rhythm) and JOY in her yoga practice. She first experienced the bliss of savasana as a teenager during the final moments of a modern dance class at Brant Lake Camp in upstate New York. A dancer all her life, Debbie has traveled around the world studying, teaching, and performing West African dance and music. Debbie danced her way into the rich, vibrant Bay Area yoga community through her work with Common Ground Magazine, Gaiam, and yogamates.com. She has delighted in following her yogic path around California at events such as the Green Yoga Conference, Ojai Yoga Crib, and various Yoga Journal Conferences. She thoroughly enjoyed her 200+ hour Holistic Yoga teacher training at Exhale Center for Sacred Movement in Venice, CA with Saul David Raye, James Bailey, and Jeremy Brook. Debbie is consistently amazed and inspired by the guidance she receives from her teachers, Saul David Raye, Alseny Soumah, Kira Ryder, Djeneba Sako, Erich Schiffmann, Denise Kaufman, Dana Flynn, Jasmine Tarkeshi, Bill Wyland, Gizella Donald, Seane Corn, Marietou Camara, Rod Stryker, Joel Kramer, Ganga White, and Sean Johnson. In her flow yoga classes, Debbie encourages students to connect with the "Rasa" or juice, flavor, essence of their lives. She loves weaving together postures, breathing techniques, basic dance movements, music, yoga philosophy, poetry, and meditation to help her students feel more relaxed in their minds and bodies. Debbie's teaching draws on her passion for building community and bringing people together through movement and the arts. She assists her students in finding joy and freedom in themselves by exploring their own personal expression of yoga. Debbie firmly believes yoga should be accessible to everyone as a medium for growth. Her classes are open to all experience levels.
