After leaving a desk job working in environmental conservation, Rebecca recently spent a year training, apprenticing and deepening her yoga practice with yoga masters and spiritual teachers around the world, from the jungles and beaches of Costa Rica to the Himalayan foothills of India. Through this experience, she came to believe that our greatest potential for making the world a better and more sustainable place lies not in 'what we do', but rather 'how we are'.
Yoga comes from the Sanskrit word 'Yug', which has the same meaning as the English word 'Yoke': to connect or join together. In her classes Rebecca aspires to awaken and connect to a deeper awareness of the Divine within, and an enhanced ability to create alignment in our own bodies and the natural world around us. She inspires mindfulness in her students through focus on the breath, deeper connection to joyfulness through kirtan, finding one's natural flow and inner strength as we move through a vigorous asana practice, and creating space for softness as we discover and release into our edges.
Rebecca is certified by the Nosara Yoga Institute in Costa Rica, and offers classes in the Hatha or Vinyasa Flow style. Her teachers include Don and Amba Stapleton, Sharon Gannon and David Life, Shiva Rea, Saul David Raye, among many other beloved mentors and students who continue to teach and inspire her in return.
